Research from the University of Cambridge has shown that eating more fruits and vegetables daily can help prevent type 2 diabetes. The study examined the levels of vitamin C and carotene in the blood of about 10,000 people with diabetes and more than 13,000 people who were protected. These individuals were divided into 5 groups according to their blood biological markers or biomarker levels. The lowest consumption of vegetables and fruits was on an average of 274 grams per day while the highest intake was 508 grams.

Fruits And Vegetables:

The researchers found that people who ate more fruits and vegetables in their daily diet had a 50% lower risk of diabetes. In contrast, people who ate less than 508 grams of fruit and vegetables as part of their daily diet also had a lower risk of contracting the disease. The study, published in the British Medical Journal, included volunteers from eight European countries, ranging in age from 20 to 79. The findings confirm previous estimates that minor lifestyle changes, such as eating a healthy diet, can significantly reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.

Researchers say that the benefits of using fruits and vegetables have long been known. But in the past, there has been no definite opinion on their role in preventing type 2 diabetes. “The results of our research show that even a modest increase in the number of fruits and vegetables on a daily basis can help reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes,” he said.

Fruits And Vegetables Reduces The Risk Of This Disease:

Experts believe that the consumption of fiber-rich fruits and vegetables reduces the risk of this disease. This is because it slows down the absorption of sugar into the bloodstream. Supports the digestive system and increases the feeling of keeping the stomach full for a long time. A balanced and healthy lifestyle also helps prevent obesity, which is a major risk factor for diabetes.

Complications Of Diabetes:

Complications of diabetes can affect the organs of the head and various bodily systems, such as if the disease affects the eyes, then the complications appear in the form of visual impairment, blurred vision, blindness, and inner eyelid disorders. The effects of diabetes on the heart and arteries can be seen in the form of heart attack, angina, high blood pressure, and stroke. The disease also causes impaired renal function. In extreme cases, some patients’ kidneys stop working and lifelong dialysis or kidney transplants are performed. Patients with diabetes are more likely to have foot diseases and their complications, as the feet become numb due to disturbances in the nervous system and do not feel hot, cold, or injured. In this condition, any kind of injury can be very dangerous, because the infection first spreads to the feet and then to the whole leg, and if not treated in time, it can lead to amputation of the toe.

To protect yourself from this complication, take special care of your feet, wear appropriate shoes, avoid walking barefoot, wash your feet with plain water and use lukewarm water in winter, dry your feet after washing or bathing. When the nails of the hands and feet should be trimmed carefully. If there is any problem in the feet, then you must consult your doctor so that the feet can be saved with timely diagnosis and treatment.
